Symbiosis Law College team wins national-level business quiz
A National-level business quiz for undergraduates conducted by the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) gave youngsters an opportunity to test themselves on their business insight.
Symbiosis Law College emerged victorious, with College of Engineering (Trivandrum) and St Joseph's College (Bangalore) coming in first and second runners-up respectively in the final held on Sunday on the Lavale campus of Symbiosis.
There were 12 teams giving their best shot in a bid to win the competition.
"We could identify many students who would fit into our institute in the coming years," said Dr Vivek Sane, director, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM). "Everyone gave a tough fight, which was great to see."
Before the main competition, online prelims were conducted between August 15 and 22. "We were quite surprised with the response we got from the online quiz the Aspirant Relations Team - student council had organised. More than 300 teams and 1,000 individuals participated," said Sane. "From here teams were chosen for the semi-finals and the final."
After the prelims, SIBM hosted the two-day competition over the weekend, with participants from other cities being treated like guests by the college authorities and students.
The winning team from Symbiosis Law College comprised Raghav Chakrabarty, Sachinravi and George Mathew. Chakrabarty and Sachinravi are quizzers and have participated in numerous competitions, but it was the first time for George Mathew.
"We follow the newspapers, magazines and online sites regularly as they the best medium to keep oneself updated on current affairs," said Chakrabarty.
He added that it required compatibility, trust and diverse interests among group members to win any competition.
"Sachin and I have different interests and therefore it broadens our horizon," said Chakrabarty.
