Protestors turned violent in Mysore and attacked the Deputy Commissioner's office and the police today. The police in turn lathi charged and lobbed tear gas shells at the mob.
The protestors led by H D Kote MLA Chikkanna wanted to present a memorandum to the DCu00a0on an issue related to caste certificates. When the authorities told them that the DC was on leave and hence could not come to accept, theu00a0protestors turned violent. They pelted stones at the DC's office. Some attacked and beat the police.
The police used cane and tear gas shells to disperse the mob.
