Moreover, the west coast has seen very little action despite monsoon advancing till north Karnataka on June 10. Despite Goa and the coastal Maharashtra receiving monsoon-like showers for the last few days, it will take a few more days for the rains to set in.
Commenting on the issue, Sunitha Devi, IMD director (Pune), said it was a little early to declare the onset of monsoon in the two states and claimed that the monsoon revival is expected from June 15. She added that with the possibility of a cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal, the parched regions of Marathwada and central Maharasthra would be receiving rainfall only after June 16.
