A tempo suspected to be carrying beef was apprehended by the Shivaji Nagar police on Tuesday. Cops seized 700 kg of meat and have sent the samples to the forensic lab in Kalina to determine whether it was beef.
In the meanwhile, the police also detained the tempo driver and cleaner. After getting a tip-off, the cops laid a trap at Qadri Beef Shop, no. 9, Shivaji Nagar Road. The meat was brought from Apte, Panvel.
"It has been handed over to municipal authorities for disposal," said DCP (Zone 6) Sahaji Umap.
