"Jazz is not just Jazz anymore, it's a free-er form of expression," says 39 year-old tabla whiz Talvin Singh and performing artist at the newest edition of the yearly Jazz Utsav. With two evenings full of music to elevate your soul surely, jazz lovers and many others can rejoice.
On the list of performers in the city are names like Larry Carlton and the MST project. What's in store is uninterrupted and undiluted jazz to soak your soul. Laugh your heart out as you see Avinash Daniel present on stage an Indian adaptation of Woody Allen's famous play God. The story begins when a famous American theatre group decides to perform in India. But something happens and they don't turn up at the last moment.
There's confusion as all the tickets are sold and the theatre owner gets panicky. Seeing no other way out, the owner requests an Indian group to perform the play.
Though set in the time period 500 BC, the play brings up modern issues that promise to blur the lines between logic and insanity and between the ordinary and absurd. So, get ready to cross your boundaries with this rib tickling performance.
