New Delhi: After ceasefire violations escalated tension between India and Pakistan, a row also erupted over denial of visas to diplomats from both sides.

Both India and Pakistan blamed each other for not granting visas to their officials.

The Indian side said at least 12 officials have been denied visas, including a naval attache.

The row started as early as June, when Pakistan denied visa to two yoga trainers who were to go to Pakistan for the International Yoga Day.

India had, meanwhile, denied visa to a Pakistani foreign ministry official in June, charging him with ISI links.

The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi denied the claim that the officer was linked with Pakistan's spy agency ISI.

Pakistan then put on hold visa to an Indian naval officer who was to go as a defence attache to Pakistan, ahead of the July 10 meet of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
