The Navy has seized a Pakistani fishing boat with 18 fishermen on board from west of Diu coast, coast guard officials said on Wednesday.

The 18 were apprehended yesterday and have been subsequently handed over to the coast guard who are bringing them to Porbander.

The Pakistani fishing boat 'Gul-e-Sarwar' was caught by the Indian Navy some 283 nautical miles west of Diu, Indian Coast Guard (ICG) officials said.

The master of the boat has been identified as Sayeed Badshah, who is a Pakistani citizen. The fishermen are expected to arrive in Porbander tomorrow evening, they added.

This is the third time in the past month that Pakistani fishing boats have ventured into Indian waters and apprehended by authorities.

On February 1, four Pakistani fishing boats along with 26 fishermen were apprehended by ICG from west of Jahkau coast in Kutch district.

The ICG had also apprehended two Pakistani boats off the Kori Creek in Kutch district, with 17 crew members on board, which also included two children.
