DVDs of recent blockbusters seized
Nothing takes the air out of Bollywood's sails like piracy. But sometimes the B-town sentinels get a chance for payback.u00a0 mThe AACT (Alliance Against Copyright Theft), an anti-piracy coalition between Hollywood and Bollywood studios, conducted raids in Delhi and NCR areas last week with the help of the local police. The organisation busted a huge racket and recovered pirated CDs and DVDs worth Rs 1.5 crore. A company has also been busted in Panipat, Haryana.

"Last week our teams cracked down on a major pirated DVD manufacturing factory in Panipat, Haryana & seized over 37,000 pirated DVDs/CDs worth rupees Rs 50 lakh. The team has also seized about 6 lakh inlay cards along with 102 DVD writers and one TV set.
The police have registered four FIRs and arrested six people under sections 51, 52A, 63, 68A, 292 of the Copyright Act and 420 of the IPC," an AACT official told MiD DAY.
In the past one week, AACT teams have also raided godowns of bootleggers in Ambala, Faridabad and Delhi, seizing more than 94,221 pirated DVDs. Most of them were of newly-launched and hit movies like Dabangg, Robot, Anjana Anjani and Do Dooni Chaar.

| AACT is also working to stop online piracy and launching programmes in schools and colleges to raise awareness. The organisation is also supported by FICCI in forming an anti-piracy cell. The agency will work with the government organisations against piracy and they are hoping for a more strict law to curb the crime. |
