A doctor at the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Hospital in Wanowrie in Pune was arrested on Thursday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting Rs 350 bribe from a policeman for issuing medical certificate for sick leave.

The doctor has been identified as Dr Namdev Laxman Patil.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACB) Jagannath Kalashkar said, ''The policeman is the complainant in this case. However, Dr Patil allegedly demanded the bribe to issue the medical certificate."

Superintendent of ACB Shirish Sardeshpande said, "The policeman lodged a complaint with Pune-unit of the ACB which verified the complaint. Accordingly, our team caught the doctor red-handed while accepting the bribe money."
