The NOIDA authority in recent times has emulated or attempted to follow several ideas implemented by the MCD.

Now, the authority has decided to install a biometric system of attendance, to keep a check on those who like to take things too easy.

Every worker would have to mark his presence thrice a day to rule out proxy attendance.u00a0The MCD had recently discovered thousands of bogus employees in its ranks, thanks to the technology. The system will take three months to install. The authority is still studying its feasibility by visiting places where the process has already been implemented.

Mohinder Singh, chairman and CEO of NOIDA authority said, "Soon we will have the biometric system to mark attendance and all employees would be required to mark their presence thrice a day. This will bring transparency to the attendance system."

Residents of NOIDA often complain about the absence of municipal workers for long periods.u00a0 Locals hope that with the introduction of the biometric system, sanity will finally prevail.
