After street protests, canvassing and social networking, it's time for some song and dance, well at least the former. Protesting Delhi Technological University students have now come up with a novel way to keep their spirits high. Three third year students have composed a theme song-Faasle- for their movement.
It is an attempt to integrate the students, as days of dissenting have taken their toll and the morale is ebbing. Nikhil Bhatt, who has composed the music and lent his voice to the song said, "The reason behind creating this song was to make the college authority realise that we are not fighting for the wrong causes and to motivate the students who are aggressively heading the protest."
The three innovators say they never thought they would contribute much to the protest but their anger flared up when they saw their friends getting lathicharged for raising their voice. "One of my very close friends was brutally beaten up by the Delhi police. He cannot walk properly even now, and one of his shoulders was dislocated. Then I felt that we are students, not criminals. If we have gone ahead with this, then we will not back off. We have created this song to motivate the students and in the video of the songs we have used the images of the protests," Nikhil said.
The students are clear that the song is not to be used for any commercial purposes and they have decided to forward it to all colleges and institutes through social networking websites so that others can come forward and support the cause.
"It is so depressing that more than 95 per cent of the students are protesting for the betterment of the college but we are being treated shabbily. Our song is our voice against the injustice done to the students," said Kshitij Kuldeep, who has conceived the lyrics for the song.

| The Delhi Technological University (DTU) students have ended their street protests, bringing normalcy back to the campus. Nitin Baraiya, a student and placement coordinator at DTU said that, "Discussions with the newly appointed registrar and the student representatives took place in detail after which they have decided to end their protest on the assurance that the demands to meet the academic, administrative growth and improvement in quality of education are met. We are also grateful to the govt for creating the post of registrar." He further added that, "As the government has taken steps to meet our demands, we have decided to end the protest but we do plan to carry out a symbolic protest for the central character of DCE." |
