The court will hear CBI's plea for their custody on September 7
Former Karnataka tourism minister and mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy and managing director of Obulapuram Mining Company Srinivasa Reddy were sent to jail by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday.

The court forwarded the two to 14-day judicial custody and will hear CBI's plea for custody on September 7.
Janardhana Reddy was arrested from Bellary, 300 km from Bangalore, on charges of illegal mining operations in the Obulapuram Mining Company in Andhra Pradesh.
The team led by CBI DIG Lakshminarayana, Andhra Pradesh, after conducting raid at the residence of Reddy, also arrested Srinivasa Reddy, managing director of OMC. Another team of CBI conducted simultaneous raids on Parijatha, Reddy's residence in Bangalore.
During the raid at Reddy's residence, the CBI team reportedly found cash and other valuables. CBI has confiscated several documents related to iron ore export and bank transactions outside the country.
Several IAS, IFS officers also will be questioned in connection with illegal mining at Obulapuram and some of them are expected to be arrested today. CBI is preparing a detailed report to submit at the special court wherein it was learnt that 174 names are included.
