Short circuit reduces Pimpri plant to ashes

A fire broke out in an electronic factory in Morwadi area of Pimpri, which lasted for five hours.


A fire broke out in an electronic factory in Morwadi area of Pimpri, which lasted for five hours. Eight fire engines and about a dozen water tankers were rushed to the spot to douse the blaze. According to preliminary information, fire broke out at 7 pm at Shree Electricals, a factory that manufactured electrical equipment like switches and plastic boards because of a probable short circuit.

5-hour operation
The fire spread quickly through the storeyed building and engulfed the entire factory within a few minutes. The operations winded up at around 12 am, by which time the factory was gutted.

Fire officers said, "There were no casualties or injuries reported in the fire." However, the owner of the factory told officials that the fire caused losses amounting to more than Rs 1.2 crore.

However, the actual cause for the fire was not yet known and investigations will continue.
