station's "rent a bicycle"initiative, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has extended the service to the Pragati Maidan, Patel Chowk and Indraprastha stations. If you have a photo identity proof, you can hop onto a cycle and roam around Delhi at the meager cost of Rs 10 for four hours!

Started as an eco-friendly feeder option to make commuting easy for students, the bicycle rental facility became very popular with other commuters as well. On an average, about 50 to 60 people avail this facility everyday. The new service at Pragati Maidan, Patel Chowk and Indraprastha stations is expected to help tourists and professionals who work in offices nearby.

Each of these stations will have 10 bicycles each that will be available on rent. There will be six cycles for men and four for women. A nominal amount of Rs 10 will be charged for using the cycles for a minimum of four hours. The commuters will just have to provide a photo identity proof.

"DMRC encourages the use of bicycles by commuters as it is an eco-friendly mode of transport. All parking slots of DMRC have space allotted for bicycles and Smart Card holders can park their bicycles free of cost at these slots. Others have to pay a nominal amount of Rs 2 for parking their bicycles at the stations,"said DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal.
