Delhi police sources say they have been tapping calls of alleged Home Ministry mole Ravi Inder Singh for a while now

When Ravi Inder Singh would call up his associate Vineet Kumar regarding his rather dubious business of selling classified Home Ministry data at the best price, he wasn't the only one listening.

Kolkata-based businessman Vineet Kumar.

Sources in Delhi police have revealed that before apprehending the duo, Special Cell had been tapping their phone calls for many months. In fact, cops have about ten thousand recorded conversations of the MHA bureaucrat and the broker. On the 16th of this month four mobiles were dumped by Ravi Inder and Vineet. Police is trying to get details about the cell phones.

"We will also take Singh and Vineet's voice samples to establish evidence against them," said a police source.u00a0
Ravi Inder who sold secrets for cash and sex, was reportedly emotionally attached to a Kazakhstan girl who was introduced to him by Vineet, who was also caught on Tuesday by Special Cell sleuths.

Sources in the Home Ministry said that from the phone recordings, it is evident that Singh asked for the particular girl quite often from Vineet. "He had met the girl in one of the meetings with Vineet and since then he reportedly got attached to her emotionally," MHA sources said.

Besides, sources also said that in June this year, Singh's wife had deposited Rs 25 lakh in an account using the address of the guest house at posh GK Enclave in the Bank of Maharashtra branch.

Sources in the MHA stated that it is also evident from the conversations that on October 22, Singh allegedly cleared a file in favour of Vineet's corporate contact and also called Vineet to ask him about the 'prasad' (code word for bribe).u00a0

The 'whistleblower'

Meanwhile, a senior functionary of a leading telecom company has also come under the radar of investigators for allegedly tipping off arrested IAS officer Ravi Inder Singh about his phones being tapped by the security agencies.
Sanjeev Arora, a deputy general manager with Vodafone, who is responsible for dealing with government agencies, had allegedly informed Singh, who was accused of leaking information from Home Ministry, that his phone was being tapped, alerting him to be careful while making calls. "We will soon call him for questioning as this was an incident of criminal conspiracy to subvert an ongoing probe into a matter," an official said.
