Two fishermen missing as boat sinks off Mumbai

At around 4 am on Saturday, a fishing boat from Mumbai, Dutta Sai, with 16 crew sank approximately 30 nautical miles west off Mumbai. According to reports, the incident took place due to bad weather and rough sea conditions


At around 4 am on Saturday, a fishing boat from Mumbai, Dutta Sai, with 16 crew sank approximately 30 nautical miles west off Mumbai. According to reports, the incident took place due to bad weather and rough sea conditions.

Of the 16 crewmembers, 14 were recovered in the morning by the ship MV Dependable, which was near the accident site. Indian Coast Guard Ship Samudra Prahari, on coastal patrol, was diverted for the rescue operation and it reached the area at around 2.30 pm. Coast Guard Dornier aircraft from Daman was also launched to undertake air search for the remaining two missing fisherman, who are yet to be sighted.

Meanwhile, ICGS Samudra Prahari had taken over all rescued fishermen from MV Dependable, provided them first aid and food and their condition was reported to be stable. Coast Guard will be continuing air and surface search for the two missing fishermen.
