Alleges harassment, wants custody of their son
In their nuptial vows, they promised to live happily ever after, but failed.
Pawan Kumar and Olena, fellow students while pursuing medical course in Ukraine, tied the knot in 2003 and came to India to ceremonise their marriage according to the Hindu customs. Though they formalised all the traditions, but couldn't survive the social institution called marriage.u00a0

In 2004 the couple were blessed with a son, Aman, and started living in south Delhi's Gautam Nagar area. As time proceeded, love evaporated in air and the relationship settled down, only with the occasions of bitterness and scuffle.
"We both were studying medical course in Ukraine and fell in love. We decided to get married and settle in India. We had a son Aman and slowly and slowly we started facing domestic problems. Pawan would often beat me after consuming alcohol and we would fight on and off. In the year 2008, our second son Roman was born and I thought things will solve, but the problems only got worse. And my in-law's didn't even came to my rescue," said Olena.
Olena tried complaining with the Delhi police but all the efforts went in vain. So she finally complained to the Noida Phase II police station, as she used to earlier stay with her in-law Ram Prasad's house at Sector 82, Udyog Vihar. Finally, the police registered an FIR on Monday evening under section 498-A of IPC.
"It seems to be a case of domestic violence but the investigation is still on," said a police officer.
Olena also went to the National Commission for Women (NCW) for help in order to get custody of her elder son Aman, who is still staying with Pawan. Pawan is practising at a hospital in Faridabad and he refused to comment on the issue.
"I can't even return to Ukraine as my visa and passport are with him. Even our marriage certificate is with him. I don't have any document on me," said Olena.
