Western Maharashtra has been the stronghold of the NCP. How come the results were so dismal?

Is the party going to introspect on what went wrong?
Of course. We will look into what can to be done to avoid this in future. But the right person to reveal the details of this introspection process will be NCP leader R R Patil.
Sharad Pawar must be disappointed that he cannot become the prime minister now?
It's the people who wanted him to be PM. My father has always said that the numbers are not on our side. When NCP entered into an alliance with the Congress, it was with a clear understanding that
the NCP and Congress will work in tandem to strengthen the UPA alliance and give a stable government under the leadership of Manmohan Singh.
How does it feel to defeat your opponent by a margin of over three lakh votes?
I am certainly happy about it. I am thankful to the voters for having faith in me. I will try my best to live up to their expectations. I am also deeply indebted to the party workers and also the Congress who helped me win.
What will be your priorities as an MP?
My father has done a lot of work for the development of this constituency. I will try to follow his footsteps and do whatever I can for the betterment of youth, women and farmers. Providing drinking water to all areas will be my priority.
