For a crash course on the female nature, head to artist Kalyani Suresh Gulge's exhibition of figurative art at Malaka Spiceu00a0
Understanding a woman ain't easy; ask any man if you disbelieve us. Pune-based artist Kalyani Suresh Gulge offers a simple solution: gaze into a woman's eyes. Or if you are too lazy to do so, get some practice at Malaka Spice by gazing at 20 figurative artworks of women at various phases of their life.
"I have been planning to work on this series for a long time but never got down to it. As a woman, I understand the emotions that others go through and I wanted to capture it, as well as express my views and thoughts through my paintings," she says.u00a0
With a Diploma in Art Education from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Kalyani has been exhibiting her art at Mumbai and Bangalore over the last six years. "I was interested in drawing from a tender age. It turned into a passion eventually and I ended up at art school. Ultimately, I chose it as a full-time profession."
She believes in tackling various subjects and is currently working on a series on children. Her colour combinations are one of the highlights of her paintings and provide a realistic look to her acrylic on canvas paintings.
