Gardener discovers pistol, cartridges in a plastic bag
While investigating agencies are gunning for members from the CWG Organising Committee (OC) given the shadow of corruption on the recently concluded Games, perhaps someone took the sentiment a bit too literally. A country-made pistol and five live cartridges were found from a park near the OC headquarters at Parliament Street in New Delhi on Wednesday afternoon.u00a0u00a0
A police source confirmed the incident. The site is also in close proximity to Hotel Park. An official close to the investigation said that the pistol and cartridges were kept in a blue plastic bag that was discovered by a gardener.
"The blue plastic bag was dumped underneath fallen leaves. The gardener was cleaning the road when he noticed the ammunition. Some security guards deployed at the nearby DLF building informed the police about the incident," he said. The official said this is not a case of security breach and is not in anyway related with OC office security.
Another senior police officer said an FIR has been lodged in this connection under section 54/25/59 of IPC and the matter is being investigated."The culprits have not yet been identified. We are taking it seriously and technical surveillance has been mounted after this incident was reported to us," stated the official.u00a0
