An Assam Police team on Tuesday reached the Delhi residence of Congress leader Pawan Khera for questioning and carried out a search in connection with a case linked to allegations made against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his family, officials said.

Speaking with reporters outside the Congress leader's house, Assam police DCP Debojit Nath said that Khera was not found at his residence. However, he said that a search was carried out and electronic devices were seized.

Some "incriminating material" was found, he said. The case has been registered at the Crime Branch Police Station in Guwahati, the DCP said. The development comes after Khera alleged that Sarma's wife had three passports and that he had hidden information about her assets in his poll affidavit.
