An official from the health department said the cases were filed in the first week of April after they received complaints and conducted surprise checks on these centres.

Cases have been filed against Joshi Hospital, Chikitsa Diagnostic Center, Dr Purohit Nursing Home and Dr Kashyap Nursing Home.

Dr R R Pardesi, chief medical officer, PMC, said the cases were still pending in the court. "Once the court gives the ruling, decision will be taken about the centres.

The court has issued summons against Chikitsa Diagnostic Center, Dr Purohit Nursing Home and Dr Kashyap Nursing Home, in the meantime, against Joshi Hospital, the verification issue is under process," said Pardesi.

Dr Phadke Arvind, founding member of Joshi Hospital, a multi-specialty clinic, said the problem was minor technical hitches.

"I have no idea what exactly happened. The superintendent is the right person to speak to. In 2008, I had signed applications for sonography machines; after that I don't know what happened," Arvind said.
