A seven-member central team will visit Andhra Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Montha across six districts.

According to the news agency PTI, the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT), led by Pousumi Basu, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, will inspect cyclone-hit areas to evaluate the extent of losses. "The Central Team will tour the affected regions for two days to inspect damages and directly interact with impacted families," said Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) Managing Director, Prakhar Jain.

On Monday, one team will visit the Bapatla district, while another will cover Krishna, Eluru, and East Godavari districts. On Tuesday, teams are scheduled to visit Prakasam and Konaseema districts.

As per PTI, the Central Team includes officials from the ministries of agriculture, expenditure, water resources, highways, rural development, power, and space. They will conduct on-ground inspections, review damage to crops, housing, and infrastructure, and prepare a detailed report on the cyclone's impact for government assessment and assistance.

Cyclone Montha caused widespread destruction across Andhra Pradesh's coastal belt, leading to severe crop loss, infrastructure damage, and the displacement of families amid heavy rains. According to APSDMA, the team's report will help the state finalise its memorandum seeking Central aid to expedite relief, rehabilitation, and infrastructure restoration.

District administrations are compiling detailed damage assessments to present to the visiting officials, ensuring accurate documentation of losses and recovery needs.

After Typhoon Kalmaegi, Philippines now braces for Super Typhoon Fung-Wong

Ahead of Super Typhoon Fung-Wong's arrival on Sunday, which is expected to lash Catanduanes and nearby areas with life-threatening winds and coastal flooding, authorities in the Philippines have evacuated hundreds of families, local media reported.

As reported by news agency ANI, the country's state weather bureau PAGASA warned that the typhoon, which is called Uwan locally, could bring violent winds, torrential rain, and storm surges up to three metres high.

After Typhoon Kalmaegi caused major destruction in the Philippines and Vietnam, Typhoon Fung Wong, on the other hand, is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday night or early Saturday. As per the reports, the typhoon is moving generally westward before turning west-northwestward.

One of the reports said that the typhoon struck the Philippines' eastern coast with maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometres per hour and gusts up to 250 kph, causing flooding and storm surges in Catanduanes and nearby provinces.

The tropical cyclone, which was categorised as a super typhoon, is forecast to make landfall over the southern portion of Isabela or the northern portion of Aurora late Sunday or early Monday.
