The Special Cell of the Delhi police claims to have arrested a gangster, Ajay Raj Sangwan alias Raja alias Don, who was allegedly involved in the murder of under-19 cricketer Gagandeep Singh in October 2009.u00a0Cops said on Monday the 23-year-old criminal was arrested when he came to meet his accomplice near the Nizamuddin flyover.

"Sangwan was a known criminal in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. He was also wanted for the murder of Gagandeep Singh," said Delhi Police Commissioner YS Dadwal.

Sangwan who is allegedly involved in over a dozen cases of kidnapping and murder had a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head. The reward had been announced by the Uttar Pradesh police.u00a0 The sleuths of the Special Cell said they had received inputs that Sangwan was visiting Delhi frequently to plan another crime. Cops said a pistol and seven cartridges were recovered from him.

Gagandeep Singh was killed when Sangwan and his associates Ankit Chauhan, Mukrid Talian and Rahul opened fire at a shopkeeper in Meerut on October 9 after a quarrel over snacks. Rahul has already been arrested.
