What's it about: Falling in Love stars two outstanding actors Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep.
Frank Raftis (Robert De Niro) is married and has two kids. Molly Gilmore (Meryl Streep) is only slightly less happily married, with no children after at least one unsuccessful pregnancy. The two happen to literally collide into each other as they step out of a bookstore on Christmas Eve, each overloaded with shopping bags.
Thankfully, it isn't love at sight, but their books get exchanged in this encounter. They meet in another random encounter at a subway and share a quick laugh about the accidental exchange of packages. A mystical attraction seems to erupt at this stage and they return to the station looking for each other, giving way to a series of meetings. Coffee meetings, lunch meetings and meetings on the subway lead to blossoming love, and soon the two cannot live without each other. When they feel they want more out of their love they end up in bed, but are not able to go the whole way as Molly has guilt pangs.
In the midst of all this, Molly is dealing with her father's terminal illness. Frank's wife Ann (Jane Kaczmarek) leaves her husband to give him space so he can decide what he really wants in life. Frank and Molly go through a series of trials and tribulations through the course of the movie.
What's hot: Should they be together? If you're a romantic, then your answer will be yes. And that's why this film is a must watch for those who believe in love. The two have gone through their separations and meet at the same bookshop where they had met for the first time. They exchange pleasantries and bid adieu, and then before they know it, they are in each other's arms.
Verdict: A romantic movie for a rainy evening. But if sentimental stories tire you, do refrain.
