Arzan Khambatta's February exhibition will present aerodynamic pieces that see the mating of art with industrial engineering
Known for his 'scraptures', artist-architect Arzan Khambatta enjoys making something out of nothing. Sculptures from scrap metal has an expert in him. February 14 will see the opening of his next exhibition that uses new techniques that have helped him create novel textures.
This time, his artwork draws from science, using elements of balance including fulcrums, and formulae to create aerodynamic pieces.
"If a machine can be used to smoothen a surface, why can't it be used to roughen a surface? It's all about challenging the machine," he says.u00a0
This time, the vision can't be contained in his Sewri workshop. Khambatta has outsourced some of the work that requires industrial machines for the job.
"What's challenging is trying to explain my artistic vision to an engineer who normally uses machines in a conservative way. But I've done my research and visited several industrial expos to find tools that can do the job."
