Enraged mob storms police station after cops 'rape' woman

Enraged over the alleged rape of a woman by five cops, a mob stormed the Inderpuri police station in south west Delhi late Monday evening. The mob was demanding the expulsion of the accused policemen.

It was alleged that five police officials attached to the Inderpuri police station went to the residence of Dheeraj who was wanted in association with some betting racket on Monday morning. However, when they could not find him, they allegedly raped his wife.

After Dheeraj's wife raised a hue and cry, about av hundred people gathered and started shouting slogans. Later, they assembled and went to the police station. First, they tried to vandalise the station but security men prevented them from doing so.

No official from the police station was willing to speak over the issue, as the Deputy Commissioner of the Police was yet to pay a visit.

Meanwhile, the area remained tense, till late night. Sources said, the woman was trying to put the blame on the police officials to save her husband, who is involved in a betting racket.
