Eunuchs to hold rally today to demand apology from Asaram Bapu for derogatory remarks that 'do not befit his status as a spiritual leader'

Pune's eunuchs are really upset with godman Asaram Bapu. The eunuchs have written to Deputy Commissioner of Police Mahesh Patil about derogatory remarks made by him.

The community will stage a mass protest against Asaram Bapu on Thursday objecting to the latter's obscene gestures at a satsang in Ujjain on Sunday. He allegedly tried to copy Kamla, a eunuch, who is the mayor of Sagar in Madhya Pradesh.

"Asaram told the congregation that if the police arrest him their condition would mirror that suffered by the citizens of Sagar under a eunuch leader. He also commented on how we wear saris, and made obscene gestures depicting us," said Daljeet Singh, a eunuch and founder of NGO Aadhar, who wants the spiritual leader to apologise.

"This kind of behaviour does not befit someone who calls himself such a learned man and spiritual leader. He must apologise," said Singh.

MiD DAY spoke to Uday Sangani, Asaram Bapu'su00a0u00a0 media representative, who assured us that he would respond to our queries.
