The incident occurred at around 11.40 pm. A fire official said that a Scorpio car fell into the stretch that is also called Khuni River of Bawana. The victim who was drowning made a call asking for help.
"We sent two fire tenders to the spot to save the life of the victim. Due to a sudden spell of rain the road had become muddy. It was a narrow lane that leads to the river where the victim was trapped along with his vehicle. One fire tender passed though the route but another fell into the river. Three fire men were traveling in the vehicle," said the fire official.
Meanwhile, police officials said that the man and fire men were pulled out and rushed to a nearby government hospital where they are undergoing treatment. "Three big cranes are being used to pull out the Scorpio and the fire tender," said a senior police official.
