Bagging the venerated BAFTA and finally the Academy Awards, sound engineer Resul Pookutty has made the nation proud. And so, the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), where Pookutty learnt the art of playing

with sound, will felicitate him for his stupendous achievement.


Speaking of Pookutty, Pankaj Rag, director of FTII, said, "It feels great that someone from FTII has won such prestigious awards. He, for sure, is a source of inspiration for our students. His achievements will encourage students to opt for sound recording and mixing courses."

'Inspiration'

Likewise, Kedarnath Awati, the dean of films, said, "Pookutty was among those students who always thought out of the box and was really creative and hardworking." He added that Pookutty has made the premier institute proud of what he has achieved so far.

K A Sarkar, head of sound at FTII, who had taught sound recording and engineering to Pookutty, said, "FTII students were always in demand, but Resul's achievements have further boosted our image. It's an amazing feeling to know that he'll with us tomorrow."

On being asked how he feels about being felicitated by his own teachers and institute, Pookutty said, "I feel honoured that my teachers will be felicitating me. Even in my Oscar speech, I had attributed my success to my teachers in FTII and my school and college teachers. They've given a shape to my career."
