The state government has decided to stall all proposed infrastructure projects in the vicinity of M G Road. This, except the ongoing elevated metro track work.
All other proposals, including the one for a metro station at BRV Grounds will be scrapped, sources said.
"No more projects will come up around M G road," said a source in the urban development ministry. "The decision has been taken to preserve M G road in its present state."
"The proposed BRV grounds project that connects the east-west corridor to Magadi road, will be shifted to Byappanahalli," said the source.
"The decision is also to decongest MG road," said M N Srihari, special advisor to the chief minister.u00a0

Move welcomed
Bangaloreans, who fought for the cause welcomed the government's move to retain M G road as it, though it has already lost its charm to some extent with the ongoing elevated track work.
"I welcome this move," said retired Justice M F Saldanha, who fought against projects here along with many other Bangaloreans. "I'm happy that CM Yedyurappa has decided to preserve M G road which has already got ugly structures. If not checked in time, the proposed metro will put the surrounding areas in a bad shape as most trees along its route are being cut."u00a0
