An hour later, a thoroughly alarmed Pradeep, received yet another SMS that updated him about yet another swipe for Rs 19,000. Pradeep called his bank to inform them that he had not withdrawn any money that day.

Two late

Pradeep was to learn later that the bank sent him the first message two hours after the credit card was used the first time. He went to the bank to inform them that he had not withdrawn or spent any amount that day.

He asked customer support staff at the branch to share the details of the transactions.

Pradeep has alleged that the bank staff did not cooperate with him, and that he was asked by the manager to pay up as the card belonged to him.

Thoroughly frustrated, Pradeep decided to investigate the crime himself.

He went to a jewellery shop in Malleswaram and requested the management to hand over the video footage that showed the culprit in the shop.

"There were many lapses on the part of the jewellery shop staff as well. The cashier at the shop did not check the basics.

The cashier did not notice the split transaction made (Rs 20,000 andu00a0 Rs 19,258). The bill mentions the customer's name as Ramesh.

However, the name on the card says Pradeep. The signature was not verified and the photo ID was not collected or verified," said Pradeep.

When he looked at the CCTV footage, he located the couple that swiped his card. Pradeep got the print and went to the Byatarayanapura police station.

The officers on duty allegedly refused to take his complaint. Disappointed, Pradeep then went to Vijay Nagar police station and filed a complaint on March 25 and handed over the CCTV footage to them.

No breakthrough

Over a fortnight has passed since Pradeep filed the complaint.

The Vijay Nagar police is yet to make any breakthrough in the case. All Inspector Jagannath Rai of the Vijaynagar Police Station was willing to say on the subject was, "I don't know anything about this case".
