India's first all-women post office comes up in Delhi

On the occasion of the International Women`s Day, communications and information technology minister Kapil Sibal i has inaugurated India's first all-women post office in New Delhi.


After announcing India's all women public bank, the central government on Friday started an all-women post office in New Delhi on the occasion of the International Women's Day.

Communications and information technology minister Kapil Sibal inaugurated the post office at Shastri Bhawan - the hub of central government offices - in central Delhi.

The post office has three counters - two offer multi-purpose services like booking of speed post, registration, sale of IPOs, booking of money orders while one counter is for sale of stamps.

"All these counters will now be manned by women employees only. The working hours will be from 9.30 am- 5.30 pm," said an official statement by the ministry.u00a0
