Delhi police arrest Haryana-based gang of notorious auto-lifters
They never went to school but earned more than a lakh a month. They never learnt a trade, but worked like a pro in their profession - auto-lifting.
The Delhi police arrested Haryana-based gang of five notorious auto-lifters on Friday morning in Kidaner village. They have reportedly made more than a crore by lifting motorcycles in the last couple of years.
Among the arrested, Jacum, 26, is the gang leader and is known as Rajasthan ka don. Son of Shamsu, the most wanted dacoit of Rajasthan who was killed in an encounter, Jakum had made quite a name for himself. Another gang member Siddique, 48, had trained his son Jagul, 23, and together they made a deadly pair. While Jagul had been arrested earlier and is serving a jail term, Siddique was picked up on Sunday.
The other three members are Sazid, Ilyas and Maksood. They used to steal motorcycles in Delhi under the supervision of the Jacum and Siddique, who paid them Rs 3,000 per stolen bike. Jacum and Siddique used to get Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 from their dealers, depending on the condition of stolen bike.
During interrogation, the gang members revealed that they had stolen motorcycles worth more than one crore rupees in the last couple of years. The Delhi police got a tip-off from Maksood, who was also part of the gang.
Jacum has been arrested several times before. "It was not an easy operation for us. The villagers were helping the accused in every possible way, but we arrested them nonetheless," said a senior police officer.
Police recovered 16 motorcycles, Rs 22,360 rupees in cash, a desi katta and seven live cartridges from them.
