A day after the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka jumped inside Jantar Mantar, the CJP leaders on Wednesday were sent to five-day judicial custody.
As per PTI, the protestors have been arrested and have been lodged in Tihar Jail on Wednesday for allegedly violating their peace bonds and trespassing into Jantar Mantar.
The police source while briefing about the incident said that bail bond formalities for their associate Ajinkya Shinde are being finalised.
The CJP members were produced before the Executive Magistrate again on Wednesday morning. All the three CJP leaders were detained on Tuesday after they allegedly breached barricades and entered the Jantar Mantar area without authorisation, raising slogans demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation.
CJP leader Ajinkya Shinde while speaking to the media said, "Ashutosh, Saurav and I, along with CJP volunteers, went to Jantar Mantar carrying the Indian flag and raised slogans of 'Bharat Maa Ki Jai'. They sent Saurav and Ashutosh to jail for five days for carrying the Indian flag and raising these slogans."
"You may have heard how, during the freedom struggle under British rule, our revolutionary comrades were sent to jail for raising slogans of 'Bharat Maa Ki Jai' and waving the tricolour. The same kind of government is now ruling this country under Modi and Shah," Shinde added.
On being asked whether Abhijeet Dipke would also be part of the core committee meeting, Shinde says, "Abhijeet will be part of it."
Representing the CJP leaders, Advocate Abhisht Hela said, "Where we will file for bail is a matter of our legal rights. We do not want to disclose all those details because there are other aspects as well. We will exercise our legal rights and follow the legal procedure. Whatever happens, you will be informed."
"Keep following CJP's social media accounts for all leads and updates. We were not given any information. No such information was provided to us," as per PTI.
Delhi Police had registered a case against the CJP activists on charges including trespassing, violation of prohibitory orders, breach of a peace bond and obstructing a public servant from discharging official duties, as per PTI sources.
Das and Ranka had signed bonds to maintain peace for a year after being detained during a protest on Saturday, they said.
