Lokayukta police wing chiefu00a0 J V Goankar was unexpectedly transferred yesterday, which could mean another jail stint for former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

With the transfer, the government has violated bail condition, which could now hamper investigations. Though CM D V Sadananda Gowda approved the transfer, it is evident that the move was made at Yeddyurappa's behest.

Goankar was moved from the key post to be replaced by Yeddyurappa's favourite officers Satyanarayana Rao, while SP Arun Chakravarthy will take over as DIG, since Pranob Mohanty was transferred a few months ago. Goankar will return to his earlier position as ADGP (Administration).

Rao's name has not only cropped up in the mining scam report prepared by the Lokayukta, but he was also pulled up by the HC for not serving an arrest warrant to Janardana Reddy, despite the local court issuing several non-bailable warrants against him.

Chakravarthy had served as SP in the former CM's home constituency. Both these important positions would now help Yeddyurappa in the course of investigations of the cases registered against him.

Sources confirmed that although Goankar maintained a low profile during his stint as the chief of the Lokayukta police, he was tough and handled Yeddyurappa's corruption cases effectively.
