Tourists can once again visit major attractions in and around Lonavala after the Pune district administration lifted monsoon-related restrictions that had been imposed due to heavy rainfall.
Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi revoked the order issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, following a review of the weather and ground situation. The restrictions had been imposed from July 6 to August 31, 2026, to prevent traffic congestion and accidents during the peak monsoon season.
According to the district administration, rainfall has subsided, and normalcy has returned to the region. However, authorities have urged tourists to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines while visiting Lonavala and other monsoon destinations.
According to the order, public access was closed to several popular tourist destinations, including Ekvira Devi Temple, Karla Caves, Bhaje Caves, Bhaje Waterfall, Lohagad Fort, Visapur Fort, Tikona Fort, Tung Fort, Tiger Point, Lion's Point, Shivling Point, and Pawna Dam.
