Hundreds of aspirants from across Maharashtra staged an âAakrosh Morcha' (protest march) in Pune on Monday, demanding action over alleged irregularities in examinations conducted by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), confusion surrounding examination results and several pending demands.
A large number of students gathered near the Omkareshwar Temple in the morning. The protest march proceeded towards the Pune District Collector's Office in the presence of Baramati MP Supriya Sule and MLA Rohit Pawar.
One of the key demands raised by the students was the resignation of the MPSC chairman and secretary and their replacement with officers with a clean record.
The students also demanded an immediate clarification on objections raised regarding the Group-B examination and a probe into the alleged irregularities.
The protesters sought an inquiry into alleged errors during the evaluation of descriptive papers for the State Services Main Examination 2025 and the Agriculture Services Examination.
Students also demanded that the preliminary inquiry report submitted by the Mumbai Crime Branch to the MPSC be made public.
They called for a forensic audit of all examinations conducted during the tenure of Under Secretary Abhijit Lendwe, who is currently under arrest in connection with the case.
The protesters further demanded a detailed investigation into the criteria followed for appointments and promotions during the service tenures of Abhijit Lendwe, Marathe and Nakhate.
Another demand was to examine the contact records of selected candidates who allegedly communicated with the accused persons in the case.
Students also called for an investigation into whether institutions other than those associated with Pravin Patil and Mayur Thakare were involved.
The protesters demanded an independent inquiry into other examination results to address doubts among candidates. They also sought a forensic audit of suspicious results in the âDI' system.
The students demanded that the Group-C preliminary examination scheduled for October 25, 2026, be conducted in a completely transparent manner.
They also called for the revival of the stenographer post.
The protest march led to heavy crowding around the Omkareshwar Temple area and along roads leading to the Pune District Collector's Office.
Police personnel were deployed in the area to maintain law and order and manage the crowd and traffic.
