M'lore mayor sues Renuka Choudhary



Mangalore mayor Ganesh Hosabettu has filed a legal notice against Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Renuka Choudhary for comparing the Mangalore pub attack to the atrocities committed by Taliban.

The mayor and 15 others have filed a case to this effect before the Mangalore chief judicial magistrate court.u00a0

The notice addressed to the minister states:

"You have issued a public statement, which says 'Talibanisation is happening in Mangalore' and further that 'Mangalore has been Talibanised'. You have further stated that 'there is a clean communal divide in Mangalore where a Hindu girl is prevented from talking to a Muslim boy in Mangalore'.

The notice further demands an apology from the minister:

"As instructed by my clients, I hereby call upon you to withdraw the above referred public statement about Mangaloreans and you are also called upon to apologise to the people of Mangalore by issuing suitable public statement within three days."
