A rifleman of the Assam Rifles posted in Manipur's Ukhrul district allegedly opened indiscriminate fire at his colleagues, killing a JCO and five other jawans.
Immediately after a brawl with his colleagues last evening, Rifleman TS Tangkhul allegedly opened fire killing the JCO and five other jawans at the 17 Assam Rifles' post under Chingai police station, official sources said.
The accused fled with some weapons and the force has started investigating the case.
Unconfirmed reports said two Assam Rifles mistook each other as militants and clashed during which the six were killed.
