The three Bihar policemen held hostage by Maoists were not set free, contrary to media reports earlier in the day.

Investigating authorities are still puzzled as to the whereabouts of the captive policemen. State police told the media that it had intensified operations against Maoists and were trying their all to find them quickly.

"We were expecting the policemen to be released by now.u00a0 The police have moved into theu00a0 forests around Kajra hills in Lakhisarai district. A chopper has been pressed into service," ADG and state police spokesperson P K Thakur said.
