in the bargain the Delhiites are getting to bear the brunt.

Under fire for running behind schedule to complete a number of Commonwealth projects, the government has opened all fronts at once turning the city into a heap of debris.

A number of roads have been turned into dumping grounds by the government, turning them into accident-prone zones. Who knows it better than Allen Osta. The 22-year-old student of Jamia Millia Islamia was on his way to Karol Bagh on a scooter on the night of January 28. His friend Nadeem was riding pillion.

There was no street light on the road and gravel sand was lying scattered on road. The tyre of their scooter slipped on the debris throwing both of them on the road. Both of them were badly injured. And they were not the only ones.

Locals told MiD DAY that ever since construction work was on, the road has become an accident-prone area.
Apart from Karol Bagh, construction and beautification work has been on at a number of places.
The North campus has also been severely hit due to excessive construction activity.

University road, Chhatra Marg near Miranda House Hostel, Patel chest Hospital road, Hudson Lane, Vijaynagar, Cavalry lane have been badly hit with dug out roads, footpaths, parks.
Apart from that a number of areas in south Delhi have also put up boards reading men at work.
