Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Sunday extended support to students protesting the MPSC paper leak row, demanding the resignation of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) Chairman Rajesh Bhimanwar over repeated leaks.
Dipke said around 20 lakh MPSC aspirants in Maharashtra were affected by the issue and alleged that repeated paper leaks were putting their future at risk.
He said CJP would continue supporting the students' protest until Bhimanwar resigns.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, along with Dipke, participated in the protest over the MPSC paper leak row in Pune.
Raut and Dipke met the protesters and urged them to remain firm on their demands. The agitation, backed by NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar, is seeking greater transparency and fairness in the MPSC examination process, along with Bhimanwar's removal.
According to PTI, Raut said their slogans should reach Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, whom he accused of "pretending to be deaf".
"This is the Jantar Mantar of Maharashtra. The pattern of Jantar Mantar is that the agitation continues till the demands are met," Raut said.
Raut said thousands of students from across Maharashtra had taken to the streets and were even prepared to face arrest to press for their demands.
He alleged that the government was attempting to create divisions among the protesters instead of holding discussions with their representatives.
"If this government's intentions were pure, it would not have created a split in the agitation. It should have come and held a dialogue with you and Rohit Pawar and understood your demands," he said, PTI reported.
Raut also questioned the government's claim that it had accepted the students' demands.
"CM Fadnavis has stated that the government has accepted all the demands. If that is the case, why are the students still protesting?" he asked.
As per PTI, he called for a "complete cleansing" of the MPSC and said, "A government which cannot conduct polls fairly, how can it conduct examinations fairly?"
Raut further alleged that attempts were being made to place people belonging to a particular ideology in key administrative positions.
He warned that the agitation could intensify and spread across Maharashtra if the students' demands were not addressed.
