This weekend, soak in nature in all its glory as you pedal on a bicyle. As the rains descend upon us, it's the perfect time to strap on your helmets and go on a joy ride. Odati Adventures has organised a cycle trip from Murbad to Karjat where you will be cycling on a flat terrain, accompanied by certain uphill and downhill areas, along with deserted forests too. Join 11 other cycling enthusiasts as you take the road less travelled. As only a few seats remain, we suggest you call these guys soon. You've been warned.

Why let the rains dampen your spirit? Lift the gloom by watching comedies that will have you double over, clutch your tummy and increase the Gross National Happiness of our country. The NCPA in collaboration with Lumi re Movies presents the five-day International Comedy Festival. On Saturday, you get to watch Gone with the Woman, a Norwegian film about first love and who wears the pants in the relationship. The President's Barber, a Korean political satire plays out on Sunday, followed by films in Italian, English and French on successive weekdays. Says Deepa Gahlot, head of Programming, Indian Theatre and Film, NCPA, "Comedy is always popular. The films offer a wonderful opportunity to see how humour works in different cultures."

Cinema and the city: The connect continues
On: Today, 7 pm onwards
Where: Mini Auditorium, Research Unit Building, SNDT University, Juhu Campus.

Notice closely. Behind bus stops and under the flyovers is where you will spot illegal shacks of cinema that charge less but entertain hoards. They double up for shelter and linguistic refuge for migrant wage workers. Anna Sound Please, a film directed by Madhavi Tangella, captures this phenomenon and you get to watch it today as part of the inauguration of the certificate course: City Narratives in Literature and Cinema. After introductory sessions and the film screening, there will be a discussion on the topic Cinematic Cities and City Cinema by curator of the Cinema City project Madhusree Dutta, author Rahul Srivastava and art and media critic Sadanand Menon. The Cinematic City exhibition, set up in the college foyer, is on display till July 12.

France Trance comes to aamchi Mumbai

In the works of Anne Rice, Talamasca is a secret society set up to watch over witches, spirits, werewolves and vampires. But the Talamasca that's going to swoop down on our city tonight is a Paris-based psytrance project and one of the pioneers in the France trance scene. Listen to DJ Lestat (Cedric Dassulle's alter ego, a stage name inspired by a Rice character) in one of his mind-blowing live acts.
FOOTBALL AT THE FROG: On Sunday, enjoy the footie finals on the big screen accompanied with brilliant acoustics that Frog is famous for. Get a free kick (one plus one free on certain spirits) and a special football menu. It's a fitting end to a riotous month.

What happens when you begin to figure a lunatic?
On : Today, 7 pm and 9 pm
Where: Prithvi Theatre, Janki Kutir,
Juhu Church Road, Juhu.
Call: 26149546

What happens if the man we call a lunatic was the sane one, and the rest of us, insane? When we realise that the guy in tattered clothes is dancing in the streets because he hears music we cannot? National swimming champ-turned-theatre actor and director Manav Kaul's Ilham takes you through the life of a middle-aged man who claims to have an Ilham (enlightenment). Sitting on a park bench, he starts talking to an imaginary man. Slowly, he starts talking to imaginary children and though he seems to be going mad, he is also the happiest he has ever been. What world will he choose to inhabit if given a choice?
