Civic authorities in Maharashtra's Beed district on Tuesday began the demolition of an under-construction building allegedly linked to retired professor P V Kulkarni, who has been arrested in connection with the NEET paper leak case, reported the PTI.

The Beed Municipal Council initiated action against the four-storey structure located in the Shahunagar area after it was found to be in violation of local building regulations.

According to municipal officials, notices were issued to the contractor, directing the removal of the unauthorised portions of the building within a specified period.

Chief Officer Shailesh Fadse said demolition proceedings were started after the deadline for compliance expired, the news agency reported.

Officials stated that the contractor is currently removing the unauthorised sections of the structure under the supervision of the municipal administration.

"We had issued notices. We have received information that the owner has voluntarily removed the unauthorised construction. If an application for building permission is submitted in future, the site's status will be physically verified and permission will be granted only if it complies with the rules," Fadse said, according to the PTI.
