MUCH has been said and written about Chetan Bhagat's best selling novel Five Point Someone. If Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots was the tip of the iceberg, here's your chance to watch the entire novel that too in a theatrical format. Never mind, if you've read the novel umpteen times over, this one still calls for a dekko. We lift curtains on the play.

Friends forever: A still from the play

Ready for Deja vu?
Directed by Sunil Vishnu K, the play is set in the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, in the year 1991. It marks the life and aspirations of three engineering students, Hari Kumar played by Sudarshan, Ryan Oberoi played by Naveen and Alok Gupta enacted by Bhargav.

"The play is all about their lives and is not focused only on one character as we had seen in 3 Idiots. So we get to seeu00a0 engineers fighting for their grades, friends turn into foes, the conflict between students and management and a beautiful love story, allu00a0 weaved together.u00a0 Almost all the elements of drama which we probably missed out while reading the novel, comes alive here. We have kept the soul of the book in intact throughout the play," quips Sunil.

Colloquial touch
The play is in English but there is a meticulous use of Indian English that is 'Hinglish' as we call it. The dialogue delivery is conversational and lucid, quite similar to the original text. This apart, the play uses the enigmatic music of Pink Floyd, which makes it more lively and dramatic. The ensemble of actors is a group of amateur students, from different engineering and management colleges.
