Prime Minister Narendra Modi, taking a hint from his own nationwide podcast âMann ki Batt', has written the foreword for the Indian edition. He has written the foreword for Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's autobiography, I am Giorgia - My Roots, My Principles (Rupa Publications), describing it as "her Mann Ki Baat".The book is already a bestseller in Europe and will be available in India soon.
While stating that his foreword for the book is an expression of respect, friendship and admiration. Calling it an honour to write the foreword for Giorgia Meloni's book, the PM marked that it is a "great honour" to contribute to the volume. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also praised Meloni and said that the Italian prime minister is a "patriot and an outstanding contemporary leader."
PM Modi further wrote, "Prime Minister Meloni's life and leadership remind us of timeless truths⦠It will be well received in India as a refreshing story of an outstanding contemporary political leader and a patriot." He highlighted that the Italian Prime Minister Meloni, is the epitome of leadership.
Putting a light on her leadership values resonating with Indian values, PM Modi highlighted that Giorgia Meloni's belief in safeguarding political and cultural heritage, even while engaging globally around so many issues, resonates with the Indian values and culture.
While writing the foreword for Meloni's book, PM Modi also recalled how, in the past 11 years, he has interacted with many world leaders, each with a different life journey, and how their journeys transcend personal stories and speak to something larger.
Meloni's memoir was first published in 2021 when she was an opposition leader. Soon after, the Italian leader gained new prominence after she became Italy's first woman prime minister in 2022.
The US version of her memoir was released earlier in June 2025, which also carried a foreword by Donald Trump Jr, who hailed Meloni's "working class" roots and her rise as a "patriotic tidal wave".
The book, which has already become a best-seller in Italy and parts of Europe, highlights PM Giorgia Meloni's journey. The travails - and sometimes trauma - of womanhood had been a theme in Meloni's pre-election speeches. "I am Giorgia, I am a woman, I am Italian, and I am Christian. "You can't take that away from me," was her rallying cry.
PM Giorgia Meloni's memoir has been written with sheer compassion, which depicts an interesting story about a campaign run against her just because she was a woman, an unmarried mother, and did not shy away from political activity when she was pregnant.
Considering the fact that the Indian edition of âI am Giorgia' is still not available in India, it is expected to draw attention not only for Meloni's personal story but also for the symbolic friendship between the two leaders.
