Pune City Police rescued a 28-year-old man who was allegedly abducted and assaulted by a group of persons in an SUV during the early hours of Thursday, police said. Two accused have been apprehended in connection with the incident, while efforts are underway to trace two others.
According to DCP Zone 1 Krushikesh Rawale, police received a call on the emergency number 112 at around 12:30 am reporting that Prasad Suryavanshi had allegedly been abducted in a black SUV from the jurisdiction of the Perugate police post.
Acting swiftly on the information, police teams launched a search operation and began tracking the vehicle. The teams located the SUV and chased it before rescuing Suryavanshi from the alleged abductors, police said.
Police identified the two accused as Sagar Ramesh Borade, 32, a hotelier from Walchandnagar, and Kishor Balasaheb Sawant, 32, a resident of Dasur in Solapur district's Malshiras taluka.
Both accused were apprehended at around 1:23 am, according to police.
Investigators said the alleged abduction was triggered after Suryavanshi spoke to a woman who is a friend of accused Borade. The accused allegedly assaulted Suryavanshi and, with the assistance of two other accomplices, forcibly took him towards Sinhagad Road in his own vehicle.
Police said Suryavanshi was physically assaulted during the incident. Following his rescue, he was provided medical treatment.
The police further said that Suryavanshi and the woman with whom he was allegedly speaking are both aspirants preparing for competitive examinations.
A case has been registered against four persons in connection with the alleged abduction and assault. While Borade and Sawant have been apprehended, police teams are continuing efforts to trace and arrest the remaining two accused.
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction, including the events that preceded the incident and the roles of the four accused.
The emergency call received shortly after midnight led to the immediate deployment of police teams and the subsequent tracking of the SUV.
Police are now working to locate the remaining suspects and gather further evidence in the case. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses, police said.
