Pune witnessed sudden afternoon thunderstorms on Monday, bringing relief after days of dry weather and rising temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to very light rain for the city over the next two to three days.
The rain was isolated, hitting only specific pockets of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad rather than the entire city. IMD Pune senior scientist SD Sanap said similar brief, localised spells are likely to continue for the next few days.
"Rain was reported only in some parts of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad and was not widespread. Similar spells may continue over the next few days," he told mid-day.

The city had experienced a relatively dry spell over the past few days, resulting in a rise in maximum temperatures and increased discomfort among residents. On Sunday, the sky remained partly cloudy in the morning, followed by bright sunshine in the afternoon. Cloud cover increased again towards the evening.

Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23 degrees C on Sunday.
According to the IMD, the maximum temperature is likely to see a slight decline over the next two days. On Monday, the sky was expected to remain mostly clear during the morning before turning partly cloudy in the afternoon or evening, with the possibility of light to very light rain in the city and surrounding areas.
The maximum temperature is likely to remain around 31 degrees C, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 23 degrees C.
