Rash driving injures two

In yet another incident of rash driving, two people were injured when the driver of a speeding car (MH04-5, allegedly owned by a politician) lost control at Marine Drive at 1 am last night and rammed into another car (MH04 DR 248). The driver, along with its two passengers fled from the spot, leaving its fourth occupant, a bodyguard, at the spot.

Victim Anurag Sheth, the other car's driver, said, "There were two cars, including ours taking a right turn towards Girgaum Chowpatty. They suddenly drove in front, and hit our car. Instead of helping us, the driver of that car ran away. My friend who was sitting next to me got a head injury, and had to be hospitalised. She was so shocked, that she was unable to recollect the incident."

The girl was admitted to Bombay Hospital. Her mother asked the police to get the case solved and arrest the culprit. "I want justice. I don't care if the culprit is well placed. My daughter is in the hospital."

A police official from the Marine Drive police station said that they are looking for the driver, and will be recording the girl's statement.

The Other Side

Meanwhile Rahul Patil, the bodyguard, said, "The car was badly crushed, so I got down and first removed the boy and the badly-injured girl. Our driver and the other two persons ran away."

When we enquired about his employer, Patil refused to comment.

"My bosses have asked me not to disclose any details to the media. I don't know the driver or the others. It was my first day at work," added Patil.
